چکیده
Background and Purpose: Although it has been reported that the amount of alcohol consumption a J-shaped association with ischemic stroke, is unclear whether differences in drinking patterns affect this relationship. We aimed to clarify impact on stroke midlife. Methods: used data from National Health Insurance Service-National Sample Cohort, which large-sized, standardized population cohort Korea. Five different were defined by combining frequency quantity consumed per occasion, is, abstainers, not alcohol; drinker group I, ≤30 g/d <5 d/wk; II, ≥5 III, >30 IV, d/wk. The between occurrence was analyzed using Cox proportional hazard model. Results: A total 152 469 middle-aged participants (mean age, 50.2 years; 72 285 men [47.4%]) eligible for analyses. median follow-up time 9.0 years. Compared those who drank d/wk (drinker groups I III) had significantly lower risk (group ratio, 0.71 [95% CI, 0.59–0.85]; III 0.80 0.68–0.93]) during first 7 years baseline, while other showed no such differences. However, effect attenuated after Conclusions: Reduced observed specific patterns, but limited earlier period. Physicians should be cautious educating patients consumption, considering long-term stroke.

Plasma fatty acid composition and incident ischemic stroke in middle-aged adults: the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study.
BACKGROUND The association of individual fatty acids with ischemic stroke has not been thoroughly studied, and results have been inconsistent. Few prospective studies have systematically explored the association of biomarkers of fatty acid intake with stroke. The aim of this study was to explore which individual plasma fatty acids would be associated with higher risk of ischemic stroke among wh...
